Mastic asphalt is laid on pavements for city streets which carry extremely heavy traffic, on critical locations such as roundabouts, intersections, bus stops, bridge decks, etc which is recognized for excellent service for many years. Mastic asphalt has gained and would further gain wide acceptance in road construction technique. The continuous and systematic research for a strong and durable surface to cater heavy traffic volume with higher axle loads has resulted in development of mastic asphalt. So, The Indian Road Congress (IRC) and Ministry of Roads Transport & Highways (MORTH) strongly recommend this grade for Road surfacing & bridge decking. The mastic asphalt is potentially advantageous paving materials due to high stability, high durability, very low maintenance and good riding quality.
Bitumen Mastic has been considered very suitable for use in the flooring of industrial buildings, LPG Plants, LPG Godowns, ware houses, grain storage structures etc. because of its resiliency, imperviousness, wearing quality and ease of maintenance. It may also be used as a base coat to receive floor coverings such as linoleum, flexible PVC sheets and rubber. The mastic flooring is hard, durable and highly resistant to deformation. It can be absorb shock, vibrations and is a self-healing type without bleeding. It is highly durable and needs little maintenance. Mastic Asphalt for flooring are recommended for all types of godowns like, sugar, cement, tobacco, tea etc.. and LPG godowns. Industrial stores & shops, Railway platforms and Railway godowns etc. The hard wearing surface of Mastic Asphalt is joint less, dustless and also hygienic and can be cleaned easily.
